Guided Pheasant Hunts

We truly believe that we have some of the best bird hunting available in South Dakota! With over 30,000 acres of land to rotate we are able to hunt day after day without over pressuring the birds. We hunt large milo fields, small food plots, CRP grass and native grasslands, and many shelter belts.

We help maintain a high population of birds with the natural habitat we provide. We don't guarantee limits of birds, but we do give you more than enough opportunity in a day's hunt.

What to Expect

The South Dakota pheasant season starts the 3rd Saturday of October and closes the end of January every year. We take advantage of all 3 plus months for active hunting.

Late season hunts, with a completed SD harvest enables our properties to attract more birds. Consolidated populations improve the hunt effectiveness with larger flushes and more shooting forgiveness.

Being along the Missouri River Valley contributes to our mild winters and higher bird populations. You will hunt several different farms in south central South Dakota. Every one of our properties is located in the heart of bird haven.

For hunting or fishing, there is not a specific check in time, although later afternoon is best. It is not necessary to coordinate your arrival unless it will be after supper has ended.

With your package, you are arriving the night before your trip starts. Supper is available by 6:30 pm, if you choose to be included, generally lasting about an hour.

Daily departure times vary. Pheasant hunts start at/after 10:00 am, so if you don’t have a fishing/duck excursion in the morning, you can relax and leisurely enjoy breakfast. Weather conditions determine feasibility of open-water fishing.

Details will be provided during a casual orientation on the night of your arrival.

Everyone at the South Dakota Outfitters was friendly, helpful and professional. My hunting buddies and I had a wonderful time. We saw hundreds of wild pheasants, ducks and geese all three days we hunted. Amanda and Joel were always smiling and making sure our stay was comfortable. Special thanks to the entire staff especially the Guides and dogs for making each hunt a successful experience. Amanda and Joel along with their entire staff run a first class operation! I highly recommend South Dakota Outfitters.
